For your third DS120 project, you will learn basic Photoshop concepts to help you create your 11x17in inspiration board. Per your class instructions, make sure to include the following items in your board:

In the class files folder, there will be several Photoshop practice files for you to learn from.
Open Photoshop CC.
Click on the New File button
If this is your first time opening Photoshop, from the New Document dialogue box, select the "Print" option from the top to get some basic preset details.
From the side Preset Details, enter the following:
Change "Untitled-1" to a name that has been requested by your instructor (ex. Section number_First Name Last Name_P3_Board)
Width: 17 in
Height: 11 in
Make sure units are in "Inches"
Note: These dimensions will make your project in landscape orientation. To make it a portrait, click on the first icon under "Orientation" to swap your dimensions.
Resolution: 300 Pixels/Inch
Color Mode: CMYK (color mode for printing) & 8 bit
Background Contents: White
Leave everything else the default and click "Create"
Placing an image in Photoshop allows you to bring in different images saved on your computer into you created document.
File > Place Embedded… select your file.
Adjust your image as needed (note: the proportions should automatically be kept in Photoshop. To not keep proportions, hold down Shift while rescaling.)
Once you have rescaled to your liking, hit Enter or Return to lock in the dimensions.
Need to resize again? Enter "Transform mode" by holding down Command+T on a Mac OR Control+T on Windows
While in "Transform Mode"Rotate your image as needed by hovering just over any of the white selection point until a double-sided arrow appears. Click and drag to rotate.
File > Save As… .ai (Adobe Photoshop) file will ensure the file will be a workable file. This means that whatever is on your canvas will be saved, along with all of the layers. You can always go back and edit an Adobe Photoshop file. You can print straight from an .ps file. File > Print…
File > Save As … Photoshop PDF. This will essentially flatten your image. This is a good format to email, or print from.
File > Export As.... jpg (JPEG) this will compress your image and make it a smaller file. Usually a good file format to put things on the internet.
