What is your full name, and what name do you prefer to go by? How do pronounce it phonetically?

My name is Robert but I go by Bobby, and my last name Dubel is pronounced "do bell".

What is your birthday? Are you OK with having your birthday publicly acknowledged/celebrated?

I was born September 25th and yes, I love celebrating birthdays (even if they're not mine).

Where did you grow up?

I grew up near Providence, RI.

Did you have any fun nicknames while growing up? Do you have any now? What is the origin (if you feel comfortable sharing)?

My parents called the "evil midget" when I was little because I was constantly making trouble.

What holidays do you celebrate (if any)?

I celebrate Christmas, Easter, and most holidays involving free food.

Academics

What is your academic life like?

What year in school are you?

I'm starting my freshman year at UW Madison.

When do you expect to graduate?

2023.

What is your major? How did you choose that?

I'm majoring in computer science and psychology because I want to some day create products which help people live healthier digital lives.

Do you know what you'd like to do after you graduate?

I am hoping to go into the user-experience design field and eventually get a master's degree.

Interests

What do you like to do when you're not in class/working for STS?

What do you like to do for fun?

I like to run, ski, pet dogs, and hang out with friends.

Do you have any hobbies or groups that you participate in?

I'm involved with the UW Triathlon team and Chi Alpha Madison.

Do you have any other jobs or internships?

No, not yet. (Please hire me!)

Any exciting plans for summer/winter break?

You can find me in New Hampshire this winter break hiking and skiing.

What are some interesting, unexpected, or surprising facts about yourself?

What is something that might surprise someone who just met you?

Apparently there aren't many Rhode Islanders in Wisconsin - people are usually surprised that's my home state.

Where is somewhere you have always wanted to travel?

I've always wanted to visit Switzerland and Alaska.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

Being me, I probably had a conversation with a stranger and never realized they were famous.

Life at STS

Talk a little bit about your time with STS

What is your favorite topic to teach?

I haven't taught yet, but I'm looking forward to possibly starting and teaching a basic Android app development program.

What is something you are interested in learning?

I'm interested in gaining more experience and skills in Excel, Python, and Adobe products like XD

What has been the most challenging part of working at STS?

It's been pretty easy so far! (I haven't started working yet)
