I prefer he/him/his pronouns.

What is your birthday? Are you OK with having your birthday publicly acknowledged/celebrated?

My birthday is June 30th, and yes!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin. However, I moved to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin back in April 2020.

Did you have any fun nicknames while growing up? Do you have any now? What is the origin (if you feel comfortable sharing)?

The only names I've ever been called are Matthew, Matt, or Langer. If anyone can think of a fun nickname let me know!

What holidays do you celebrate (if any)?

I like to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc. My favorite holiday is defintely Halloween.

Academics

What is your academic life like?

What year in school are you?

I am going to be a Freshman here at UW-Madison.

When do you expect to graduate?

Assuming everything goes to plan, I will graduate in 2024.

What is your major? How did you choose that?

As of now, my intended major is Computer Science. I chose it because I've always been interested in learning about technology and problem solving wiht it. Some of my other interests are geography, political science, and architecture.

Do you know what you'd like to do after you graduate?

I think I'd like to continue on with my education after I graduate. I'd love to get into research of some kind.

Interests

What do you like to do when you're not in class/working for STS?

What do you like to do for fun?

I love biking and running. On a more chill day, you can probavly find me in a hammock relaxing and enjoying nature. I also like to spend time with friends.

Do you have any hobbies or groups that you participate in?

In high school, I was involved in our environmental club. At madison I want to get involved in several computer science organizations and attend some hackathons.

Do you have any other jobs or internships?

STS is my only job right now and I'm loving it so far!

Any exciting plans for summer/winter break?

I don't really have any upcoming plans because of the coronavirus, but I'm always looking forward to seeing my family during winter break.

What are some interesting, unexpected, or surprising facts about yourself?

What is something that might surprise someone who just met you?

I don't know how surprising this is, but I have never left the United States. I really want to though, and I might try to study abroad.

Where is somewhere you have always wanted to travel?

I have always wanted to visit Iceland. I love their culture and the natural beauty of the country.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

Unfortunately, I haven't.

What is your favorite topic to teach? If you are a new trainer, what are you excited to teach?

I'm new here, so I can't teach anything yet. I am excited to teach HTML and Python!

What is something you are interested in learning?

I'm interested in learning Javascript and Excel. More generally, I'm interested in learning how to teach others what I know!

What has been the most challenging part of working at STS? For new trainers, what parts of the job are you most curious about?

I'm most curious about learning how to teach Custom Workshops.
