STS Main Site
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students
The main public-facing website for Software Training for Students. All of the Software Training for Students services should be available to browse from this site.
Course Manuals
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students/training-manuals
Links to all of our course manuals. Most should point to either the raw HTML page with the manual or the page where it's embedded within Canvas, but a few are still old PDFs in the previous format.
Ask-A-Trainer Topics
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students/ask-a-trainer-topics/
A link to all of the current Ask A Trainer topics that trainers have listed themselves as able to take 1-on-1 consultations for. If at least 1 trainer has a topic listed, it will appear here, BUT if a trainer has it listed but does not have any current open hours, students will not be able to schedule an appointment directly (and instead will have to e-mail us).
WordPress Login
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/wp-admin
This is the main link to sign into the STS site to view your upcoming workshops/Ask A Trainer appointments, update your qualifications, etc.
If you see Forbidden when trying to access a page, this is because you are trying to log into the STS from an unsecured IP address (aka you're off-campus and don't have your VPN turned on). Turning on VPN should make this go away. See below for guides on installing and running UW's WiscVPN.
If you see a File Not Found error when trying to access one of the STS pages, you need to log into the site via the https://at.doit.wisc.edu/wp-admin link.
All Upcoming Workshops
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students/all-workshops/
This page lists all of the upcoming open enrollment and custom workshops, DesignLab sessions, as well as who is scheduled for them and how many students are signed up. Must be logged into WordPress to view.
View Evaluations
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students/trainer-evaluations
Where to go to view the evaluations that students have filled out for the workshops you've taught. Must be logged into WordPress to view.
Today’s Workshops (aka the link for workshop attendees to fill out evaluations):
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students/today
Direct students to this page at the end of any workshops you teach. It lists all workshops scheduled for today and also has a link to fill out evals for other workshops.
Post-Workshop Follow-up form:
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students/workshop-followup/
Trainers should fill out one of these after every workshop they teach. Doesn't need to be super detailed, but if there is anything we should know about (e.g. computers not working, clunky parts of the manual, missing files, etc.) please let us know here. Must be logged into WordPress to view.
Post-consultation (AAT or DesignLab) Follow-Up Form:
https://at.doit.wisc.edu/training/software-training-for-students/consultation-followup/
Similar to the Post-Workshop Follow-up form, trainers should fill out one of these after every 1-on-1 consultation they have. This includes drop-in consults at DesignLab. Does not need to be super detailed, but should let us know what the student needed help with and how it was resolved.

Things That Are Good to Know: Because our site is just one section of the overall WordPress site for Academic Technology (STS’s parent organization/group), there are certain limitations and required ways of doing things that we can’t really do anything about. Some of the most common of these issues are listed below.
Page not found: Many of the pages (including the pages to view your evals and AAT appointments and your trainer profile page) are set to Private in WordPress, which means they are only available when you are logged into the WordPress admin page/dashboard (see link above). If you are not logged in, you will get a ‘Page Not Found’ error, which can be a little confusing, since you are probably trying to access the right URL, but it’s not loading. Logging into the wp-admin page should fix this: https://at.doit.wisc.edu/wp-admin
Forbidden: If you are off-campus (and even if you are on campus in some places) and you try to log into the wp-admin page, you will get an error saying access to that page is forbidden. To log into the site, you will need to have the WiscVPN client running on your device. For instructions on how to install and set up the VPN client for a Mac or Windows computer, visit the Knowledge Base document here: https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=73116 For instructions on how to install and set up VPN for an iOS or Android device, visit the KB docs here: WiscVPN for iOS (https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=74593) WiscVPN for Android (https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=74947) To set up VPN on Linux, visit the doc here: WiscVPN for Linux (https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=74947)
Ask A Trainer schedules and Qualifications You can set up your schedule for Ask A Trainer appointments or update your teaching/assisting qualifications via the WP Dashboard > Appointments > Provider (https://at.doit.wisc.edu/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=birs_staff), and choosing your name.
To set up your Ask A Trainer schedule: At the bottom of your Provider edit screen, there will be a box called Work Schedule. This is where you set up availability for Ask A Trainer appointments. This is a recurring schedule, in which you set the time during which you are available, and on which days. Because of how the system works, if you would like to set different availabilities (e.g. 10am-12pm on Tuesday, 1-3pm Wednesday) you will need to create multiple schedules. To add additional schedules, click the “+Add Schedule” link.
To set up your Ask a Trainer topics: On the right side of the Provider edit screen, there is a box that says “Services” and has a list of checkboxes with topic names in them. The items you select in this list will determine which topics students will be able to schedule Ask A Trainer appointments with you.
To set your trainer qualifications: On the Provider edit screen, there is a box titled “STS Trainer Qualifications”. Trainers are scheduled to teach or assist workshops primarily based on the qualifications they list in this box. You will see blocks of checkboxes, one for “Teach” and one for “Assist”. There may be (rare) situations in which you are scheduled to assist (or even more rarely, to teach) a class that you do not have explicitly selected in these qualification boxes. We try to avoid this as much as possible, but if you are scheduled for a workshop that you do not feel qualified to teach/assist, let your manager know as soon as possible so other arrangements can be made.
