Need to use git for class but don’t know where to start? This workshop is for you!

This workshop covers the basics of using git for version control and explores how to use it with the popular cloud-based platform GitHub using the GitHub desktop app – no previous knowledge of git, GitHub, or command lines required!

Topics in this workshop include:

  • Creating file repositories, or repos
  • Commits
  • Pushing and pulling repositories from GitHub
  • Merging
  • Branches
  • Conflicts

NOTE: Before attending this session, learners should:

  1. Download and install the GitHub Desktop app: https://desktop.github.com/download/
  2. Create an account on GitHub: https://github.com/signup
